Dear GAP Registrant,

Our online registration database is currently under construction and should be complete in late September.  In the meantime, please email us your first and last name to gap@ku.edu so we may stay in touch.

Thanks for your understanding.  The new database will consist of web forms that make the GAP application procedure much faster and more efficient.  We'll let you know when it's up and running!

#gapku Welcome to the GAP Ceremony 2014 - Cody
KU GAP RAP - Global Awareness Program - University of Kansas The Global Awareness Program (GAP) facilitates global engagement through academic coursework, co-curricular involvement, and international experience. The program is open to all undergraduate students who wish to supplement their KU degree with GAP certification on their transcripts. Thanks to its interdisciplinary emphasis and flexibility, GAP prepares students to live, work, and lead in a global society. Established in 2003, GAP is the first certificate program offered at the University of Kansas, and is proud to recognize and reward students for their participation in experiential learning for global understanding. Please go to www.gap.ku.edu to learn more! LYRICS: Now it's time to tap the KU GAP Rap, So you can go out and put yourself out on the map. A Jayhawk can fly all around town, But you're never gonna know what's really on the ground, til' Until you go and get your GAP certificate, Just two things do to in order to receive it. Yes, it's all about Global Awareness, 'Cause if you're in Health, the Humanities, or Business, You're gonna interact with other cultures, regardless, So don't miss this. Component A concerns your academics, Where all you gotta do is take 3 courses with a global focus, From 3 departments, and yes it's a long list, Plus two semesters of a language and you'll own it. Get a 'C' or higher on your transcript, That is all we need to count it. And for you International Students, Take one more course on the US and you'll do it. Component B is so easy, Just get involved in co-curricular activities, Concerts, lectures, clubs, volunteering, All to gain your local cultural competency. Log your activities overall, Check the GAP points sheet and please don't stall. Component C's a little more to do, but if you study abroad for one semester than you're through, So many countries where you can go, Just hit the OSA and they'd love to let you know. Cuz you don't know how much you'll grow, Until you hit the road, From Brazil, to Italy, the Philippines, or Turkey, Of course it ain't easy in this economy, But it'll prop open so many doors of opportunity, See, just ask me, who studied in Ghana, as an undergrad from UCSB, Then was funded for 3 years on grants and fellowship money; federal money, An investment that separates you from the pack, Makes you stand out on your CV or Grad app. Answer a few questions on your experience, Add it to your portfolio, and that's it. But what is the point of all this? So what if I earn my GAP certificate? First it applies what you learn to reality, preparing you to live in a global society, then it looks good to future employers, On Grad. School applications as a doctor or a lawyer, It's one more bullet point, on your CV, And you never really know how many you are gonna need, To get what you want, or go where you wanna go, So you might as well whiles you got the time and flow. So Google GAP and register for the certificate, Download the app. and send it as an attachment. And if ya got questions just come and visit, The OIP, to the desk where I sit, In rm. 300 3rd floor of Strong Hall, So know y'all just how and where I ball. The deadline this year is May 17th, So submit that GAP APP so you can rest easy, And spend your summer chilling comfortably, But if you need any help, feel free, To email me, And check us out on Twitter and on Facebook, When you have the time, Come and take a look, come and take a look.
